Simien Mountains Climate

Rainfall :  The big rains begin in June and last through to mid September after which there is only sporadic rainfall and fog.

In the Simien Mountain National Park there is a relationship between rainfall and altitude. Rainfall increases up to 3,500m altitude and then begins to fall again, this is because the condensed clouds fail to ascend to the highest peaks.

·         Temperatures : in the park nights are cold due to the altitude (can go down to minus 5) and days are warm.  The coldest months are from October to January.
